Our major client is BHP Billiton Illawarra Coal.
Underground coal mines in Illawarra are located in areas which contain a diverse
range of land uses including water catchments, bushland, private property and major infrastructure. We are involved in baseline
assessments that are an integral part of the processes required when applying for permission to mine. We contribute to the
development and implementation of environmental monitoring programs for all significant natural features, including swamps, waterways
and cliffs for BHPBilliton Illawarra Collieries.
Our teams contributed to Environmental Assessment of the Illawarra Coal Bulli Seam Operations Project. The application for the continuation of underground mining operations at the Appin and West Cliff Collieries in accordance with Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act (1979) and Regulation (2000) is currently being assessed by the NSW Department of Planning. Its approval would extend the mine life of Bulli Seam Operations by 30 years.
